Dhikala forest rest house - In details
Dhikala zone is the most popular wildlife area in Jim Corbett national park and is the only zone in Corbett where forest department conducts the canter safari as well. Similarly, Dhikala forest rest house has become most demanding accommodation choice amongst wildlife enthusiast and photographer. This zone is well famous for its variety of Fauna & Flora and the grass land which is spread in acres. One can reach Dhikala from Dhangarhi gate is which is around 18 Kms from the Ramnagar area.
Accommodation option at Dhikala zone Corbett national park
Dhikala offers 4 different rest houses to the visitors.
1. Dhikala forest rest house
2. Sarapduli forest rest house
3. Gairal forest rest house
4. Sultan forest rest house
Dhikala forest rest house is around 30 KMs from the Dhangarhi gate and offers dozen of rooms to its guests in multiple categories from Hutment to new FRH to old FRH and dormitories as well.
Kitchen facility is available at Dhikala FRH and costing is also pocket friendly for the tourists. Dhikala forest lodge is surrounded by fence and it is situated at the bank of River Ramganga which is considered lifeline of Dhikala and Corbett Tiger reserve as well. One can spot animals through out the day at the river area during summer and winter both.
Kitchen facility is also available at Gairal lodge. However, it is not available at Sultan and Sarapduli and one will have to bring raw materials if staying at Sultan and Sarapduli lodges.
Type of safaris at Dhikala forest rest house
Forest team conducts two types of safaris here. First one is canter safari which is a 16 seater tempo/bus covered from top and open from sides for the view.
Jeep safari is the second option of visiting the park but only limited to people who make night stay booking in Dhikala forest lodge.
People staying at private hotels/resorts have option to visit by canter safari only.
Canter safari is usually of 5 hours from Ramnagar to Ramnagar and jeep safari inside is approx 3.5 to 4 hours.
Note- Dhikala forest lodge booking remains close for tourists from 15th June to 14th of November every year.
Day wise program
Day 1- The Jeep driver will pick you up from Ramanagar or any resort on Dhikuli area and drive you inside the jungle to reach Dhikala Forest rest house. It takes around 2 hours to reach Dhikala main FRH from Ramnagar area and at the gate your I’d proof will be checked and after reaching the FRH, they will provide you with your room. Enjoy lunch at restaurant and at 1:30 PM get ready for Jungle safari which will last for 3 hours. Post safari get back to your rooms and enjoy evening at leisure. Dinner and night stay.
Day 2. Wake up at 6:00 AM for Jungle safari and enjoy the jungle during Sunrise and post completion get back to rooms, get fresh and after breakfast check out. Our driver will drop you at Ramnagar or any hotel in Dhikuli area.
Day 1- Our Jeep driver will pick you up from Ramanagar or any resort on Dhikuli area and drive you inside the jungle to reach Dhikala Forest rest house. Day 2- Wake up at 6:00 AM for Jungle safari and enjoy the jungle during Sunrise and later get back to your rooms. Get fresh, enjoy your breakfast and spend some time at the open grounds of FRH. Lunch at 1:00 PM and again get ready for safari for 3 hours and post safari get back to your rooms. Dinner and spend night at rooms.
Day 3. Get up at 6:00 AM for Jungle safari and enjoy the jungle during Sunrise and post completion get back to rooms, get fresh and after breakfast check out. Our driver will drop you at Ramnagar or any hotel in Dhikuli area.
